Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the extent of Mangrove Services of Sagay Marine Reserve (SMR) among Sagay Community Residents. The services are ecotourism, socioeconomic, and fisheries. This study employed the use of descriptive research design with qualitative approach for the richness of the data. Frequency counts and percentage was utilized in determining the respondents’ socio-demographic profile when grouped according to age, sex, civil status, address, educational attainment and occupation. Mean was utilized in determining the extent of mangrove services of Sagay Marine Reserve in terms of ecotourism, socioeconomics, and fisheries. To determine the significant difference on the extent of mangrove services of Sagay marine reserve in terms of ecotourism; socioeconomics and fisheries when grouped according to respondents’ profile, T-test/ANOVA was utilized. The study revealed that there were high extent of mangrove services Of Sagay Marine Reserve in terms of socioeconomics, ecotourism and fisheries. There was a significant difference on the extent of mangrove services of Sagay Marine Reserve when grouped according to respondents’ age, sex, civil status, address, and occupation. There was no a significant difference on the extent of mangrove services of Sagay Marine Reserve when grouped according to respondents’ educational attainment.
