Abstract

The basic aim of the present study was to explore the parasitic fauna of the fishes of district Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan from July 2017 to February 2018. During present work we studied 83 fishes belonging to six different species, out of 83 fishes 25 were infected with 15 different parasitic species. All the parasites were found on external body surface of the fishes. During our research we find 3 parasites of Labeorohita these are Larnaea cyprinacea, Trichodinapideculatus and Rhabdochonacharsddensis, 4 parasites of Cyprinuscarpio these are Larnaeacyprinacae, Ergasilus species, Argulus species and Trichdina species, 2 parasites of Hypophthalmicthysmolitrix these are Larnaea cyprinacea and Piscicola species, 2 parasites of Ctenopharyngodonidella these are Larnaeacyprinacae and Argulus species, 1 parasite of Cirrhinusmarigala that is Larnaeacyprincea and 3 parasites of Catlacatla these are Apiosoma, Trichodinapediculatus and Gyrodactylus elegans.
