Abstract

This research presents the isolation, morphological and biochemical characterization antibacterial assessment of 14 marine bacterial strains (AUM01–AUM14) obtained from marine water samples. The isolates exhibited a variety of colony morphologies and biochemical characteristics, with Bacillus spp. being the most prevalent among Gram-positive strains, while Pseudomonas, Serratia, Alteromonas, Marinobacter were dominant among Gram-negative strains. Notably, AUM11 (Pseudomonas sp.) and AUM12 (Serratia sp.) demonstrated the most significant broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica, characterized by dose-dependent zones of inhibition and low MIC values that indicate bactericidal potential. These results imply that marine bacterial diversity represent a valuable source of bioactive bacteria and natural antimicrobial agents.
